Statement on Membership Eligibility

The Association is not, and never has, excluded any member from voting.  The Association has to follow legal voting rules for a ratification vote.  Those rules mandate that people are entitled to vote only if they are academic staff with an active appointment from the University.   People who do not have an active academic appointment from the University are not legally allowed to vote.  If the Association allows people to vote on a new collective agreement even though they are not actually employed by the University or a current member of the Association, then the ratification vote would be subject to legal challenge.
